Dear friends,
Over the past few years, I’ve met many people from Hindu backgrounds—both here in Sydney and overseas. One of the most helpful trainings I’ve attended for these conversations is Love Your Neighbor. It’s shaped the way I approach spiritual discussions, especially with Hindus, but its principles apply to people of many faiths.
Here are a few key things that have impacted me:
- Don’t argue. Instead, share your personal experience: “What I like most about Lord Jesus is…”
- Unlearn “Christianese.” I now intentionally say Lord Jesus, which is both clear and respectful.
- Listen well. The best expert on Hinduism is your friend—because beliefs vary so much from person to person.
- Treat others as you want to be treated. Never make fun of what someone worships—unless you’re ready for them to make fun of Jesus.
The Love Your Neighbor training is relational, respectful, and practical. You’ll gain tools you can use right away, whether you’re talking with a Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, or someone of another faith.

I highly recommend it. These simple skills can open the door for deeper, more fruitful conversations—conversations that may lead someone to know and follow Lord Jesus.
Prayer Points
- Pray for believers to grow in humility, sensitivity, and love when sharing Jesus with friends from other faiths.
- Pray for those attending Love Your Neighbor this month to put what they learn into practice immediately.
- Pray for India—home to more unreached people groups than any other nation—that the Good News of Lord Jesus will spread in ways that connect with hearts and cultures.
