As a child, some of my favorite Christmas memories came from the weeks leading up to it—what we call Advent. Each Sunday, my family gathered for a simple Advent service. I’d lead the prayers and Scripture readings while my brothers played instruments and my dad joined in on the violin. We’d sing Christmas songs, share reflections on the readings, and end with dessert, making it a time of connection and focus on what truly matters.

Advent is a season of preparation and anticipation in the four weeks before Christmas. The word "Advent" means "coming" or "arrival," and it’s a time to reflect on Jesus’ birth and look forward to His return. Each week highlights a theme—hope, peace, joy, and love—reminding us of God’s faithfulness and promises. These themes are essential as they help us center our hearts on what truly matters during this busy season.
