How was your post-Christmas evangelism?

How was your post-Christmas evangelism?

A few weeks ago I asked you about your plan to followup on people who attended your Christmas evangelistic events.

Let me tell you what I found out from the people I invited.

Manish* was in India during the whole Christmas season, so he was unable to attend any of the events we had planned.  When he came back we got together around the table to hear about his time in India.  After his report, Manish* turned to me and asked, "How was your Christmas?" I told Manish* about the wonderful Christmas breakfast we had at church and gave a three minute summary of the message, which he was quite glad to hear.

Later on we went to Mohammed's* house for a game night.  While his wife was getting some food together for us, I asked Mohammed* what he thought of the breakfast.  Again, he gave a very positive review and told me that he has started listening regularly to Malaylam sermons.

Param* had driven 45 minutes to come to our Christmas breakfast. When we stopped by his house he was most eager to show us all the improvements he had made since our last visit.  He is proud of the way he renovated his kitchen and is now making good progress on his utility room.  Then he wanted to show us his garden.  I was wondering if I would ever get a word in about the breakfast.  But eventually the two of us were alone and I simply asked, "what did you think of the Christmas breakfast?".  He said he really enjoyed it.  My wife found out that the family, while still viewing themselves as Hindus, has been regularly attending a Tamil church.

So what did I learn from this?

  1. People who did not come to the event were quite open to hearing a summary of what they missed
  2. God was working in the lives of the people who came in unexpected ongoing ways.

What did you learn from talking with the people who you invited to Christmas evangelistic events.  I would love to hear from you.

Before I go, let's pray:

"Lord Jesus, thank you for the people who came to our Christmas evangelistic events.  Continue to work in their hearts.  Prepare them for learning more about you, whether that be at regular church services, online podcasts or upcoming Easter events.  We know that your Holy Spirit is constantly at work in unpredicable ways with one desire: to see people reconciled with you.  Amen"
