Last week I wrote about one of the simplest and most easily overlooked parts of evangelism.
We need to care.
Not as a strategy. Not as a technique. But because people matter to God, and they need to know they matter to us.
In the MyFriends Lifestyle, we use a simple pattern:
- We respond to God’s love.
- We pray for people.
- We care for people.
- We share with people.
Last week we focused on care — remembering a birthday, listening well, introducing two people who could help one another, noticing a need, and doing what we can.
But care often opens the door to something more.
As friendship grows, as trust deepens, and as people see our lives up close, there are natural moments when we can share something of our relationship with Jesus.
That does not always mean launching into a full Gospel presentation.
There is certainly a time to explain the Gospel clearly. But sometimes sharing begins much more simply.
It may sound like:
- “I was praying about that this week.”
- “Something I have been learning about Jesus is…”
- “When I worship, I often find…”
- “I have noticed God helping me with…”
These small moments help our friends see that faith is not just a set of beliefs. It is a living relationship with Jesus.
The Apostle Paul puts it beautifully:
“Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.”
— 1 Thessalonians 2:8
That is the heart of Share in the MyFriends Lifestyle.
We share the Gospel, yes — but we also share our lives.
A Simple Story
Robert* invited his friend Nick* to his home to talk through some questions Nick was wrestling with. Nick had been on a private journey, discovering that there is a God, but he was still trying to understand what Christian life is actually like.
At one point, Nick said he did not understand how people could say they have a relationship with Jesus.
Robert explained how Jesus’ death and resurrection change our standing before God. But instead of turning the conversation into a sermon, he also shared personally about his own relationship with Jesus — what worship means to him, how he prays, and how he experiences being led by God.
Before doing MyFriends, Robert reflected that he may have moved too quickly to Nick’s sin or tried to lead him through a sinner’s prayer before Nick was ready.
But this time, he kept the conversation relational.
He shared his life, not just information.
That approach opened the door for regular home visits, where Robert and Nick are continuing to talk, ask questions, and look through the Bible together as Nick discovers more about Jesus the person.

What Share Helps Us Notice
When we share naturally, we are not trying to force a response.
We are paying attention.
Are they curious?
Are they open?
Are they asking more?
Are they willing to talk again?
Share helps us gently discover where our friends are on their spiritual journey.
Free Webinar: Sharing Jesus in a More Natural Way
If you would like help taking this next step, I would love you to join us for a free MyFriends webinar.
The webinar will focus on how to share your relationship with Jesus in simple, natural ways — without pressure, awkwardness, or forcing the conversation.
My wife is the special guest in this webinar.
We will explore questions like:
- How do I move from caring for someone to sharing with them?
- How can I talk about Jesus without sounding forced?
- What can I share from my own life that may help a friend become more curious?
- How can I notice whether someone is open to more conversation?
