A simple reminder I needed

A simple reminder I needed

I hope you had a very special time celebrating Jesus' resurrection.

Over Easter weekend my wife and I participated in a Karen (Burmese) church camp.

During our presenation on evangelism, one man shared an evangelism strategy I will never forget. When he bought his car, he prayed over every seat—asking God to bring each passenger to faith in Jesus. So far, he has seen ten passengers become Christians.

We left the camp on a real high.  But just two hours later, things came crashing down for me.

I stopped to get petrol. When I went in to pay, I asked the attendant how things were going. He told me the station had been broken into—more than once. They had even had to block off the front door.

As he spoke, I listened. I empathised. I even gave him some evangelistic material.

But I missed something very important. Something I teach everyplace I go.

I forgot to ask I could pray for his need -- right there and right then.  Imagine what could have happened if he had heard me bring his situation to God—and then later seen Jesus answer?

It was a quiet reminder to me:

“Bob, you need to sharpen your skills and be more sensitive to the people around you..”

Maybe you feel that too.

You want to help your friends move toward Jesus.
You care deeply.
But in the moment, you are not always sure what to do next.

That is why we are starting a simple online journey where we can practise these things together.

Over nine sessions, we will take small, practical steps together—learning how to listen well, ask good questions, and gently help our friends take steps toward Jesus.

Not pressure.
Not speeches.
Just simple, natural ways to walk with people.

That is the heart of this journey.

Here are the details:

  • Monday nights
  • 8:30pm Chicago time
  • 90 minutes
  • Starting April 13
  • Meeting over Zoom
  • There is no cost

If you would like to join us, simply reply to this email and I will send you the link and the handouts.

I would love to do this together.

Bob

P.S. It can be really helpful to take these small steps with a friend—feel free to invite someone to join you.
