The Daisy Chain

Monday was the first day of the new school term and it was a hard one for my wife.  Shortly after arriving on the school grounds she heard the story that four families were in mourning.  They had each lost significant family members during the two week school break.

How do you comfort people when you know that none of their family are connected to Jesus?

The Australian myth is that "they are in a better place".  But is that true? For everyone?

John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Perishing is the other option.  Not one I want my friends to face.

Today I was coaching Dan in Queensland.  Our topic was how to encourage his church members to tell their friends about Jesus.  I asked him to try an exercise which I'd like to challenge you to consider.

Make a daisy chain like it shows in the picture below.  The instructions say:

  1. Write your name in the middle.
  2. Label each petal with a social group or community that you’re a part of.(eg. Immediate family, extended family, footy team, work, neighbours, gym etc).
  3.  List people in these petals who need Jesus.
  4. Pray for each of these people for 30 days.

Here is the deal:  If you send me your list I will pray for you daily for the next 30 days.  In return I'd like you to pray for me and my list.

Want to give it a go? Let's see what God does.
