I was flabergasted by Roopa's response to a Bible story I told her this week.
On Anzac Day we went with her for a picnic at La Perouse Beach, here in Sydney.
Earlier that day I read the passage where Jesus walked on water. I thought that would be a good story to show the uniqueness of Jesus.
When I told her that the disciples were scared, because they didn't expect anyone to walk on water, she was surprized. In her mind the great gurus are not bound by gravity and other natural laws. Walking on water should have been expected of a great guru like Jesus.
I need to rethink what will attract people like Roopa to Jesus. That is why I've invited Cathy Douglass to give a series of online webinars in May.
You might remember the invitation to join us for a one hour webinar in April on Introducing Jesus to your Indian friends. That went so well and I learnt so much from Cathy, but it also pointed out how much more I needed to learn to be effective.
So I've asked her to give the full "Love Your Neighbour" webinar. We are going to do it over four Tuesday nights from 7 to 10 pm. That is a total of 12 hours of interaction. An opportunity for you to consider how well you are really communicating with the Indians in your community. An opportunity to ask your probing questions.
We've decided to make the webinar series free. We will send you an electronic copy of the webinar manual which you can print out if you want (or your can pay me $25 to print and mail).
Which nights should you set aside?
- Tuesday 15 May
- Tuesday 22 May
- Tuesday 29 May
- Tuesday 5 June
I am looking forward to what we will be learning and the difference it will make when we talk to our Indian neighbours about Jesus.
