Tim and Liz are seeing something happen that most of us would love to see in our neighbourhoods.

Their neighbours are asking them questions about Jesus and really listening to the answers.

It didn't start out that way.

"When I moved into this neighbourhood, we were surprised by how closed off those living around us were. People already had their friendship groups and families and were comfortable. They definitely weren’t interested in discussing spiritual things with a Christian."

Tim and Liz tried a novel approach.  Instead of starting off by talking they decided to start by listening.

"I heard about something called a focus group where companies learn about the people they are trying to connect with. We definitely needed that if we were going to have any impact in our neighbourhood! With a few others, we put together a three session focus group that taught us a lot about those in our community. What surprised us was how those who attended asked if we could continue with the discussions. They shared that they had never really wrestled through some of these deeper life issues and were keen to continue the discussion on spirituality."

When I heard about the results Tim and Liz were having, I decided to try a Focus Group in my neighbourhood. It has created a safe place for people to talk about Jesus and other important things in their life.
