Questions for your Hindu Friends

Questions for your Hindu Friends

Saturday night I attended a Deepavali training session which gave me fresh insights into what this festival might mean to our Hindu friends (Deepavali will be celebrated on October 31 or November 1, depending on where you live).

Understanding these themes can open doors to thoughtful conversations about life, values, and faith.

Below, I’ve highlighted key aspects of Deepavali and provided conversation starters to help you engage meaningfully and sensitively with your Hindu friends during this season.

  • Restoring Relationships: Rebuilding social and family bonds.
  • Charitable Giving: Engaging in acts of generosity.
  • Detachment from Materialism: Reducing attachment to material things.

A Prayer for Sensitivity and Boldness

Lord Jesus, We thank You for the opportunity to connect with our friends during Deepavali. Grant us sensitivity to listen well and boldness to speak with love and grace. Help us trust that You are at work in their hearts, and may our conversations reflect Your goodness and truth. Guide us to share the hope we have in You with gentleness and respect.  Amen.

I pray these questions help spark meaningful discussions with your Hindu friends. May your conversations be filled with understanding, kindness, and opportunities to share the love of Christ.
