A colourful weekend

A colourful weekend

It was a colourful weekend.

Local government officials invited us to a Holi celebration in the local park. If you are not familiar with it, Holi is often called the Festival of Colours. During the celebration people throw coloured powder and water on each other.

When I went, I made sure to wear a shirt that I did not mind getting destroyed.

Holi was March 4 this year, so this email is arriving a little late. However, it is still a good opportunity to connect with your friends.

Earlier this morning I was at the hospital preparing for some future surgery. The man next to me was from Fiji. As we talked, he told me that he regularly celebrated Holi back home. I was able to give him a card so he can look at the website before the doctor called me into her office.

If you meet someone from India, Sri Lanka or Fiji, you could ask simple questions like:

  • Does your family celebrate Holi?
  • What did you do this year?
  • Did you celebrate with family and friends?
  • One of my friends sent me a picture of how he looked with all the colours on him. It looked like he had fun.

I put together a website that invites people to gently discover for themselves who Lord Jesus is, what He taught, and what a relationship with Him might look like.

If you have time for a longer conversation, you might say:

“I have heard that Holi celebrates the idea of good overcoming evil and the start of a new season. That idea of good overcoming evil reminds me of the story of what Lord Jesus has done. Could I share with you one of those stories?”

If they seem interested, you could also ask them to scan the QR code right then and ask:

  • Which of these explorations looks most interesting to you?
  • Many people find that discussions about faith are best done in a group setting with their friends. Who else do you think might be interested in getting together?

Keep this QR code and others on the home screen of your phone.  You never know when God will open up a door.

Thank you for praying and for continuing to look for natural ways to connect friends to Jesus.

P.S. Are you ready to pray for Hindus? Here is the best guide I could find: https://www.globalprn.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Hindu-Prayer-Guide-compressed.pdf

It is still not too late to pray during Ramadan. https://prayer.tools/ramadan-2026/
