Getting out of the house

I told you I'm an introvert didn't I?

I work from home, most of the time in a room by myself. I'm connected to my team and the rest of the world through the internet.

So I am reading my Bible while eating my breakfast and come across a most disturbing verse: That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. (Matthew 13:1-2)

Jesus had a full-blown ministry in the house.  But he left there so that others could hear.

Convicted, I thought about where I could meet people in the middle of the day.  The calendar reminded me that it was almost Chinese New Year, so I put together a simple Chinese-English New Year card, and headed down to the shops.

I was amazed to find a huge line in front of one of the shops selling cooked duck.  Over 30 people were qued up outside the door.  They were willing to wait 45 minutes to buy duck from this shop when another shop selling duck had no line at all.

Sensing the unique opportunity God had given me, I handed each person in line a card. They had plenty of time to read. Then I visited other Chinese shops until my supply of cards was exhausted.

In all, it took me about 90 minutes. It is 90 minutes I will never forget.  Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake.

What place of ministry is Jesus asking you to leave in order to meet new people?
