As Go Month comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on how things went. Like many of you, I had some successes... and some not-so-successful moments. But I’m choosing to celebrate progress, not perfection.
I set a simple goal for the month: to share the Gospel in a meaningful, in-depth way with at least one person. Sure, I had a few shorter conversations about Jesus with different people, but I had one person especially on my heart—let’s call him Vickram. We've known each other for a while and have had some good chats in the past. I’d been praying for a deeper opportunity.
One Saturday, while my wife was at a conference, I gave him a call. The excuse to meet up was a graphics project he’s helping me with. As we worked together, I invited him to a new outreach our church is involved with called The Experience. He turned it down—said he’s been listening to a lot of podcasts lately and had some questions of his own.
Then came the golden moment:
“Why did Jesus have to die on the cross?”
What a question! We spent the next ten minutes exploring that together—talking about sin, grace, forgiveness, and the resurrection. He didn’t make a commitment to follow Jesus, but he said something that stuck with me:
“I get it now.”
And I think he really did come closer. I’m deeply grateful for that moment.
Another goal I had this month was to spend extra time in prayer using a downloadable prayer guide. I already have a regular quiet time with prayer and Bible reading, but I’d hoped to add this as a stretch goal for Go Month. I only managed to complete ten of the thirty days.
Why? I never set a specific time for when I’d do it. I’ve learned that unless I attach something to a daily rhythm, it often gets pushed aside. But ten days isn’t nothing—it’s ten more intentional prayer times focused on reaching people with the Gospel. That’s something to thank God for.
So if you fell short of your goals this month, give yourself grace.
- Was your intention to be obedient?
- Did you step out in faith?
- What did you learn?
- What will you do differently next time?
Let’s not pretend we all hit every goal. Let’s be real, because that’s how we grow.
I’m thankful to walk this journey alongside you—ups and downs included.
And if you know someone else walking a similar path, feel free to forward this along. We grow stronger when we encourage one another.
Let’s keep going.
Let’s keep sharing.
Let’s keep trusting.
May God bless all you do.
