I hope you had a joyful Easter! Did any of your friends come along with you to a Good Friday or Easter Sunday service?
My wife and I were away at a church camp — it was a great time, though too far for any of our neighbours to join. But on Easter Monday, we had dinner with a Hindu family, and I was able to ask one of my favourite questions.
“I've enjoyed the long weekend. Lots of people celebrated Easter, but many people are confused about Good Friday. Do you know what it’s all about?”
Jasmine* paused and replied, “Not really. Could you tell me?”
I smiled. “Well, imagine if someone came tonight and offered to pay off your car loan. Would that make tonight a good night?”
She laughed and said, “Yes!”
“And what if they also paid off your mortgage as well?”
“Even better!”
“Exactly. On Good Friday, Jesus paid off a debt that’s even bigger than either of those. He paid the debt I owe to God — for ignoring Him and for breaking His commands. That’s why we call it Good Friday. Something incredibly good happened for us.”
Jasmine nodded. “Now I understand.”
The conversation moved on to other things after that, but that brief moment felt significant — like a small door had opened. Jasmine didn’t make a big response, and I didn’t push the topic. But I could tell she was thinking deeply. Sometimes, it's not about saying everything at once. It’s about planting a seed, watering it with love, and trusting that God will make it grow.
The next time we meet with Jasmine, I’ll share another part of the Gospel. My prayer is that, over time, as she hears more and sees what Jesus means to us, she’ll want to follow him too.

You might try a similar approach this week.
Or you might ask someone:
“Have you ever read the Easter story?”
“Can I share the highlights?”
It only takes a few moments, but it could open a door. Here is how I share the highlights.
Lord Jesus, thank You for giving Your life for us. Thank You that the Holy Spirit gives us courage and power to share this good news. Please lead us to people who are ready to hear and be changed by it. Amen.
Have a great week talking about Jesus.
