How did it go sharing videos last week?
I went to Shihab*'s house on Satuday night with the intent of showing him a video clip Celebrating the Faithfulness of Abraham. I thought it would be the perfect time since last week Muslims around the world celebrated this event as Eid al-Adha.
Shihab* had a different idea for the night (which I will tell you about next week), so I wasn't able to show the video.
So, what did I do? I sent him a text message when we got home: I forgot to give you a card for Eid. Here is a page I found with a short clip celebrating Ibrahim's faithfulness. Hope you enjoy it: https://hereslife.info/eid
If you have a Muslim friend it is not too late to send a text like this.
Now, what is more powerful than video?
Many people predicted that radio would die in 1945 when TV came along. But today it is a bigger business today than it has ever been.
One of the reasons for radio's success is that you can be doing other things while you listen. My son loves sports, but he does not want to spend all afternoon watching an American football (gridiron) game. He has too many chores to do. So he puts on a headset and listens while doing the chores.

Radio and Podcasts also filter out distractions. Last month I was interviewed for a podcast and was very glad they did not use the video. My lighting was terrible and would have distracted you. In this podcast I am much better at communicating my passion than I am when writing.
Besides, you can listen to How to Reach Your Multicultural World while you work on a 25 minute project. My wife listened to it while cutting out paper frogs for her Scripture class.
As a follower of Jesus, you might already be listening to the Bible at a site like bible.is
I prefer to send non-Christians to mylanguage.net.au.
The reason: this site is designed for seekers. We only feature one book: Luke. You can choose your favourite method of learning: listen, watch or read.
If your non-Christian friend is not yet ready to read the Bible, you can point them to a audio file on a current topic like Peace of Mind in an Unstable World. Listen to the audio first, take some notes, and write a few questions you can discuss. My opener would be "What did you think of the podcast? Did it make sense to you?"
Or let's say you think your friend is ready to consider the Gospel, but you just don't think you can communicate it clearly. How about sending them a link to one of the talks listed at everyperson.com
Have fun listening to and sharing audio messages this week.
Let's pray:
"Lord Jesus, thank you for the ears you have given us to listen. May we listen well to you and to the people around us. Thank you for our family, neighbours and friends. We know that we want each of them to come to know you, follow you and be changed by you. Thank you the people who created audio files that we can share. Let us be both bold and sensitive. We look forward to how you will lead us this week. Amen"
Next week I will tell you what happened at Shihab*'s house. It was far better than anything I could have planned.
