I am collecting stories of how people started their first Discovery Bible Study. Would you be willing to share your story? It would be so helpful for people who are just staring on the DBS trail.
Here is Maya's story:
A university professor helped me start my first Discovery Bible Study. This economics professor had a heart to reach his students with the Gospel, but he did not feel he could do this alone. He shared his vision with a friend of mine, but it didn't fit into my friend's time schedule. My friend suggested that I meet the professor. I immediately liked the professor's idea.
This professor has an excellent reputation at his university. He enjoys meeting students one-on-one outside of class. When they meet he finds out if the student wants to improve their English skills (the university uses another European language). If they are interested, he tells them about my group. He lets them know upfront that I use the Bible and makes sure that they are comfortable with that.
I hold my group at the same time each week so students always know when to show up.Recently I started asking group members to lead the discussion. This works well because they can translate difficult concepts for the other group members.
What is your story? I would love to hear how God has opened the doors for you to start a group.
Or, maybe there is a breakthrough that you need. I would be glad to pray for you. Send me an email today and let's see what God does.
