A Special DBS for Good Friday/ Easter

Here is a special outline for Good Friday/Easter.

It is a bit different from the standard outline.  Normally we do not allow people to hyperlink.  We print out a page with the questions and Bible passage for the evening and limit our discussion to what is printed.  This keeps us from waundering out to people's favourite Bible passages.  It also provides a level playing field so that everyone can participate in the discussion.

My wife was keen to have a study that focused on the significance of the Passion Week.  I knew we needed to keep the content short because we are often interrupted by the children who are playing in one or more corners of the room. I selected four passages which summarized the Last Supper and the significance of Jesus' death.

There was some background information that would help the members of the group understand what is going on in these passages.  How do I bring this in without doing damage to the discovery process?

Take a look at questions 6 and 11.

In question 6 I am asking the members of the group what they already know about the Passover.  Everyone had an opportunity to share their insights.  I was amazed at how much Andrew knew and his family's passion for this festival

In question 11 we invited people to share other passages that related.  Here is where my wife got to hyperlink to other passages which point out the significance of the temple curtain being torn in two.

From my perspective, the outline worked very well.  I will adjust my questions for the next study based on the needs of the group and the content of the passage.  I don't want to make hyperlinking a normal part of our Discovery Bible Study, but for this study it added needed background content.

You can print off this study or access it online.
